I love them...
They're those smart little boxes that are placed on your site to attract visitors so they'll pop in their email address & sign up!
Get MAXIMUM Exposure for your Opt-In Forms - Check this out to find out more...
Getting visitors to click on that sign up box & enter their email address is the name of the game.
Getting them to become a subscriber is what you're aiming for!
And when you achieve it - it feels great...
The best way to get more email subscribers, is to have more sign up forms.
So where are the best & most exposed places to have your opt-in forms you ask...
Well read on to find out:
Top Of Your Sidebar!
The first place you should place your opt-in form is at the top of your sidebar.
Most blogs & websites have the ability to have a sidebar & if you have one - use it!
That doesn't mean place a few ads, a few social media widgets & some "most popular posts" above it - it has to be at the very top, so it's the first item a visitor sees when they look at the sidebar.
Here is an example of my sidebar on my website - the one you're on right now!
You can see that my opt-in form is at the very top & is what visitors will see first, before any of the other things I have in the sidebar (and there's a few when you scroll down).
Have A Splash Page!
A Splash Page is the first page of a website a user sees before they continue through to the main content of that site.
Above is an example from a fab site Fempreneur.
This image takes up the whole of the screen & it asks for a name & email address to get a free course.
It basically distracts you soooooo much that you almost have to enter your details in or you feel rude lol!
At The End of Your Blog Posts!
So once you have a form on your sidebar & you've added a splash page, adding forms to the end of all your blog posts is also an amazing way to get max exposure.
People go to your blog to read your blog content, so why not get the most out of it by placing a form right there at the bottom - where they can instantly sign up when they're most likely to...
... After reading & enjoying your content.
The image above is another example from my Blog - this is the opt-in form that is under my blog post content.
The Bar Across The Top Of Your Site
This is a great place to have an opt-in opportunity because again it's one of the first places which can be seen when a visitor enters your site.
It's just a simple ribbon like box, which spreads across the width of the site.
You can see above how ProBlogger (one of my fave blogs) uses a top bar opt-in.
Its awesome because it always remains visible on the page - even if a visitor is scrolling down the content...
... So if someone doesn't want to sign up straight away - this little bar remains in sight, until maybe, just maybe they do decide to opt-in!
Within Your Content
Placing opt-in forms within your actual content is a fantastic way to get more people to opt-in!
You can actually add different forms at any point within your content or you can use what is most popular, the "Content Upgrade".
Content Upgrades are no where near used as much as they should be.
I'm guilty of not utilising this opt-in, but am going to be including them in my future posts for sure.
The reason they're so great is because you can create a giveaway that's specific to that particular blog post.
You can give an added extra to your visitor by giving them even more valuable content, right there from within the blog post itself.
You just add a box (like the one you can see in blue in the image) which lets the visitor know what they get if they click.
LeadPages is a great blog, who offer services which actually create these content upgrades, along with many other pages.
So there you have it - the opt-in forms which will get you the most exposure on your site.
There are many, many opt in forms that you can add to your site & as I said above, the more opt-in opportunities you give your visitors, the more subscribers you'll get.
You can add forms any where you like.
It's totally up to you & you can test & tweak constantly so that you're always getting the maximum exposure & giving the most opportunities to your site visitors.
These are just the places I feel you'll get the most eyeballs to start with...
Let me know what opt-in forms you use on your website in the comments below!
