We all know that our email list is the lifeblood of our business, but how can it be if we can't get people to open & read our emails, let alone actually do something on the Calls To Action within...​

​So why is it so darn hard to write something awesome enough, that people want to open & read it.

Well I've recently set myself a challenge, which I'm going to be sharing the results with my subscribers, as I'm using this cool little formula I've been shown by one of my mentors. ​

But, I have been doing some other things lately & these are things that are easy to tweak & add in to your emails...

I want to share in this post today - 5 Tips to help you get higher open & click through rates, because even though I want to improve mine, I'm still seeing fairly okay stats from what I currently send out! 

So I can't be doing that shabby a job. 

So let's get stuck in with the 5 tips...

Personalise It!

Personalization really does make a difference. 

Personalization means using a name within your email body copy (although try using their name in the subject line as this gets a lot of opens). 

You do have to talk within your emails as if you're only talking to one person - them!

All that matters to people when they're reading your emails is THEMSELVES!!!

What are they going to get out of the email? 

What's going to benefit them, if they do what you ask? 

Personalization is about making sure you're giving them content they want to read, promoting the right products to them, that they're actually going to want & need.

Making sure what you're giving is actually going to help them & be valuable to them (I see too many times how marketers DO NOT do this - it frickin sucks!!!) 

It's about making their experience with you & your brand as worthwhile & tailored to them as possible. 

Another way to make it personal, is to always have you as the sender's name in the email address. 

This not only helps give it a more personal feel, but it can help to build up trust & a relationship, because they feel like they're talking to a real person & not a robot. 

I hate getting emails from generic email addresses that you can't even reply to!

Heck, I want my subscribers to email me - anytime they want to ask me something. 

I wanna help them as much as possible...

Consistency Is Key!

You want people to remember who you are don't you...

Then being consistent is the way to do that!

​You want to make sure you're regularly in contact with your list, giving them valuable content.

I don't mean email them every day sending them yet another promo!

I mean take care of them, give them something awesome & watch them stick around.

Once people see that you're in it for the long haul & that you really care about them, they'll be waiting for your products & promotions with open arms - ready to give you their $$$!

​You need to establish how often you want to be emailing your list!

Do you want to contact them once a week, twice a week, once a month etc...

What time do you want to email them?

It's best to stick to some kind of similar days & time (I usually post between 4-4:30pm GMT) as this is around 11am EST, which is a good time to send out content).  ​

This is to uphold expectations as people like to know when they're gonna hear from you. ​

Whatever you decide, I find a great way to let your subscribers know what they can expect from you, is to clarify it in your "Welcome" email...

That way, they can see what they're gonna be getting, before they start receiving!​

​You don't want to send too many emails though & bore them to death. 

If you haven't got anything interesting, relevant or entertaining to share - it's best to not say anything at all. ​

My preference is one or two a week from the marketer's lists I'm on...​

Avoid These Words In Your Subject Lines!

There are some words you should just stay away from in your subject lines.

At least you should if you want to stay out the SPAM CAN & want people to open up!

​The Spam filters work overtime & can get a little cranky, so avoid any spammy words you can.

Think about the emails you receive!

What emails enter your inbox only for you to delete them immediately because they're just selling something or offer the world​. 

Look at the words they use & avoid these in your own marketing .

Here's just a small list of words to steer clear of! (there are many, many more. Too many to list here!

Stories Are The Best!

Don't you just love opening an email & it's delivered using a story. 

I love certain marketer's emails because I know when their emails hit my inbox, I'm gonna take a stand & read it.

I'm gonna read it because it's interesting, entertaining & delivers it's message in a fun & exciting way - via a story!

There's something so much better about being able to put your content out there, in a story telling way!

And - it converts so much better because people do not feel like they're being sold to.

It shares a bit of the marketers lives, which helps with the getting to know, like & trust them as well... 

You need to be able to pique your reader's curiosity. 

You need to be able to get them to feel something when they're reading. 

Whether they laugh, feel sad or are angered at the controversy of your content...

Getting an emotional reaction is always good. 

Reaction = they're engrossed & listening to what you have to say!

Build Relationships With Your Readers!

This should always be at the forefront of your business!

No people around means no prospects, no subscribers & absolutely no customer's. 

You should always be building & maintaining relationships with your subscribers, fans, tribe etc.

It's not just about the email list itself...

Wherever you & your brand hang out - you need to be building new relationships & maintaining existing relationships constantly.  ​

Your business cannot thrive & grow, if relationships are not being built daily.

A lot of people tend to forget about their existing clients (even though these are more valuable to you than new clients). ​

It's a lot harder to generate new, QUALITY leads daily, than it is to care & look after your existing peeps, who have probably bought from you several times & love receiving the emails & content you share!

I'm not saying it isn't important to be generating leads daily (it absolutely is) because you always need fresh blood in the arena!

I'm saying don't let your existing fans drown in the sea of newbies entering your funnels! 

Don't push them out & forget them...

So if you have a fan page & or group on Facebook, a thriving Twitter community or a YouTube channel to die for - maintain and continue building those relationships too, as leads & customer's come in from all places, depending on people's preferences to content delivery & format. 

They are like lists of their own, that you can deliver valuable info & market too whenever you like!

All I did for the first year I started my business, is build relationships with people & I continue to give great value in all I do. 

If it isn't valuable to my readers, fans, subscribers etc; then I don't release it - simple as that! 

If I'm not happy with something & feel I wouldn't benefit from it, then there's no way I'm letting my peeps get their hands on something useless!

So there are my 5 tips you can use to start seeing higher open rates & click through rates for your emails. 

The only way you're going to know whether something works - is to TEST, TEST & TEST again...

Testing different strategies & keeping track of what works & what doesn't, is the only way you're gonna know how your readers react to certain ways you deliver your content.
